Not gonna lie, there are SO MANY GLITCHES. At least they’re visual glitches, because I personally adore the game play. However, it is kind of distracting to have hills disappear as I’m rolling around the landscape. Although I appreciate the trainer battles now being optional, I’m so over being charged at by Rufflets and having the battle take longer than the XP points are worth.

Overall, I can’t wait to finish the storyline. I still have about a month left in the semester so I can’t spend ALL of my time on the game yet, but I cannot wait until finals are over!

So, I survived!

My husband, Kyle, was very excited about it and bought the passes for both of us. I was not prepared for the 8 hour walk on Saturday.

Pokémon

My favorite shiny from the event was my Galarian Weezing, and I think it was one of the harder ones to get. I had almost gone home right before getting it from my incense. I’m also happy about the extra Trubbish, since I can trade it for the extra shiny Buizel that my husband caught. We also got enough Pidoves between the two of us to have complete shiny families with both male and female Unfezants.

In the screenshot below, the blue background ones are from yesterday (Sunday), everything before that was from Saturday except the Aron.

Overall, I am pleased with the experience. We both got duplicate shinies right off the bat (stupid Trapinch), but I didn’t get another one until the Tundra hour, a little over two hours in. The first city hour really kicked off the shinies for both of us, but the afternoon was more productive in general.

Kyle had made a whole spreadsheet beforehand with the lists of the shinies we needed so that way we could focus our efforts. We did both catch a few of the regionals (Tropius and Torkoal), but overall we didn’t tap on anything that didn’t have a shiny that we didn’t already have. When Kyle was checking the Reddit after the fact on Saturday, we seemed to be on the higher end of the shiny count, which had happened for us for GoFest 2021 as well.

Not gonna lie, Shaymin is just the cutest too. I loved the catch screen, I wish I would have taken a screenshot. The last few events that gave you a special catch (like Mew and Celebi) tended to force you to use the AR mode to catch the Pokémon. Instead, Shaymin walked into a beautiful painted background for the catch.

Although we didn’t get any shinies from the free raid passes on Sunday, getting the extra incense and wild shinies was still worth it.

Even though I complained about my feet more than I should have, I ended up having a good time. Next year, I plan to train a little more beforehand!

Comment with your experience and how many shinies you got!
